Up for sale/sale is a highly collectible antique cast iron bench vise manufactured by the Athol Machine Co. (Athol, Massachusetts) in the late 1800s.This is a beautiful piece of early American industrial hardware. It balances historical appeal with heavy-duty functional utility, making it an excellent addition to a working garage, gunsmithing bench, or an antique tool restoration collection.THE STANDOUT FEATURE:
Unlike the vast majority of surviving table vises from this era, the under-bench clamp assembly is 100% complete and entirely original. The massive, wide-winged factory wing nut and the thick cast-iron pressure washer are fully present with exceptionally clean, smooth threads. It mounts rock-solid to any table edge or tool cart without needing to drill mounting holes.PLEASE NOTE (Condition Detail):
The vise is missing its original sliding steel handle rod through the rear cast-iron collar (the \"meatball\"). The pass-through hole is completely intact and unobstructed, allowing you to easily slide in a piece of standard steel round stock as a replacement, or you can rotate the rear collar by hand.Specifications:
