Anglo-Indian export box in the classic sarcophagus form, veneered in bone with fine ebony line inlay and bordered in intricate sadeli micro-mosaic — tiny hand-assembled geometric patterns in the Vizagapatam tradition. Star medallions punctuate each panel, and the lid is topped with a turned bone finial. Iron hasp clasps to the front. A wonderfully tactile piece of 19th-century Anglo-Indian craftsmanship. An unusual conversation piece!
