Description
Short poll Antique / vintage 48-star American flag with wooden pole and turned spear-style finial, dating to the period when the United States officially used the 48-star flag design, 1912–1959.
The blue canton contains 48 stars arranged in six rows of eight. The 48-star configuration was adopted following the admission of New Mexico and Arizona and remained the official U.S. flag through both World Wars and into the 1950s.
This is an attractive early American flag with substantial age and character. It displays beautifully and would make an excellent addition to an Americana, military, historic textile, patriotic, or early American collection.

Condition:
Authentic vintage condition with considerable age-related wear.
The fabric shows fading, discoloration, staining/spotting, wrinkles, small holes, tears and areas of fabric loss as photographed. Colors have mellowed beautifully with age, particularly the blue canton.
Wooden pole and finial show scratches, discoloration, finish wear and other signs of age.
No attempt has been made to professionally clean or restore the flag.

The 48-star American flag was the official U.S. flag from 1912 through 1959. Exact manufacturing date of this individual flag has not been independently established.
