This sign is in great displayable condition. The case part is cast zinc i believe. The dials are approximately 24 inches across and made of tin. It weighs about 35 lbs. It has some cracks in the case as shown in the photos. All of the cracks are stable and not all the way through or causing problems. It is about 37 inches tall overall. It is double sided for use in front of an old storefront to attract customers and let people know what they did. Both faces have been repainted at some time in the past. The numbers, hands and minute marks in black are vinyl stickers. That wouldnt have been my first choice for restoration but thats how it was done and it looks nice and is easily removed. You can see part of the original face where the newer paint has flaked away.
It could date to the 1800\'s and as late as 1910. I was not able to nail down a specific manufacturing date
I dont think it was made or used by Elgin, but it is a nice touch.
In all it is an attractive displayable sign and is about as big as they made the metal ones.
