**Item:** Antique 19th Century English Banded Mochaware Pitcher / Creamer**Origin:** Staffordshire, England**Circa:** 1820–1850**Dimensions:** Approximately 5" Tall x 5" Wide (Rim to Spout)
**Description:**An excellent, genuine mid-19th century English pearlware/yellowware banded slipware pitcher (commonly referred to by collectors as Mochaware). This piece features a classic bulbous body with a footed base, decorated with applied horizontal slip-banded hoops. The top section boasts a striking vibrant blue band, complemented by a wider slate/gray-blue band on the lower half, cleanly separated by rich dark chocolate-brown horizontal lines.
A key authenticating feature of this early piece is the beautifully molded acanthus leaf terminals where the strap handle attaches to the body at both the top and bottom. The interior has a clean, clear lead-glazed finish over the light cream earthenware body.
**Condition Report:**This fragile utilitarian piece is in remarkably great antique condition for being nearly 200 years old.* No major structural cracks, hairline fractures, or handle repairs.* Very minor glaze flaking and tiny antique "flea bites" along the top rim edge and the tip of the spout, as expected with genuine age and historical use.* Minor manufacturing anomalies consistent with 19th-century kiln firing, including minor glaze pops and tiny dark specks beneath the glaze.* It stands straight, retains a fantastic glossy glaze, and displays beautifully.
