An exceptional original 1930s Art Deco semi-flush ceiling fixture featuring eighteen individually molded frosted cast-glass ALBA petals arranged in two tiers (9 upper / 9 lower) around an ornate heavy cast brass fitter with decorative finial and matching original brass ceiling canopy.Produced by the Macbeth-Evans Glass Company, the ALBA line is among the most celebrated American Art Deco lighting designs. The larger three-tier ALBA fixtures famously adorned suites in the Towers of New York City’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel, while two-tier examples such as this were also produced for elegant residential interiors during the period. Today, ALBA fixtures are highly sought after by collectors of American Art Deco architectural lighting.Every frosted cast-glass petal bears the raised “ALBA” trademark molded into the glass.
