Herreshoff 46-foot class, cutter
Gloriana was Herreshoff's legendary, undefeated racing cutter that revolutionized yacht design. It introduced composite metal-and-wood construction, longer bow and stern overhangs, and a radical cut-away forward underwater profile that was copied worldwide.

Exceptionally rare, original, 19th century albumenphotograph print on heavy stock with gold gilt edges of Herreshoff Bristol-built GLORIANA.
Photo was taken by Henry G. Peabody.It was published in Peabody, Henry G. Representative American Yachts. Boston, 1893.
This print comes from a compilation of yachting prints produced in the 1890's by Henry Peabody. The pictures shown at the end of the listing are of the compilation of these yachting photo/prints by Peabody; this is how they would have been distributed to retailers for sale. I show the pictures so the buyer can see the origin and authenticity of these prints.This listing is for the Gloriana print only.

Photo is in excellent condition, some scattered light foxing which is not harmful and authenticates the age of the prints (in addition to the paper stock and gilt (gold) edges.
