This original 1860\'s CDV portrait photograph of Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States Of America was published by D.J. Ryan in Savannah, Georgia. This antique vignette bust-shot captures Davis in profile with his characteristic wavy hair and goatee. The bottom border features the printed studio markings of D.J. Ryan of Savannah. The reverse side of the card features a highly detailed, decorative backmark for D.J. Ryan, Photographer, noting his studio location at the corner of Congress and Whitaker Streets in Savannah, Georgia. It features an artist\'s palette illustration and includes advertisements for duplicates at a reduced price, as well as stereoscopic views of Savannah, Bonaventure and Laurel Grove for sale. It shows age appropriate wear, including overall toning, fading, surface foxing and minor wear along the edges and corners. A wonderful addition to any collection focusing on 19th century photography, the Civil War or Southern history.
