Antique 1857 Jacquard Beiderwand Coverlet Signed Henry Probst, Lehigh County, PA
A handwoven Pennsylvania coverlet signed and dated in the weave: "Henry Probst, 1857," Lehigh County, PA. This Jacquard tied beiderwand coverlet pairs bold red, navy blue and mustard-gold with cream in a grid of floral medallions, framed by a bird-and-flower border with the weaver's name and date in both bottom corners. Signed and dated Pennsylvania coverlets are the ones collectors look for. One end shows heavy wear, described honestly below, so please study every photo.
