Original Pennsylvania German (Pennsylvania Dutch) hand-drawn and hand-lettered fraktur Taufschein dated 1853. The certificate records the baptism of Katharina Lohr (surname difficult to interpret), born March 14, 1847, with sponsors Jacob and Elisabeth Bender. The lower inscription references Bushkill, Pennsylvania, and the piece features traditional Pennsylvania German folk art decoration including a large portrait, birds, floral motifs, and elaborate blue-highlighted calligraphy. Housed in a later carved oak frame dating to approximately the 1920s.
