Antique 1849 Boston Museum Playbill Broadside “The forty Thieves” Framed For Sale

A fantastic piece of mid 19th century American theatrical history. The original letterpress broadside playbill is from the historic Boston Museum on Tremont Street, dating to March 19th & 20th 1849 during its celebrated sixth season (241).The playbill features a fantastic double billing of the period’s hit productions:The grand musical romance “The Forty Thieves, and the Fairy of the Lake!”. Featuring music by Michael Kelly and adapted by T Comer.The “very successful and laughable new farce” “Slasher & Clasher!” An interlude dance performance of The Cracovienne by Miss Julia Gazinsky.The broadside is packed with incredible mid-century typography, complete cast lists, and a fascinating, detailed scene by scene breakdown of the special effects and scenery.Condition:Paper is in excellent antique condition consisting it’s over 175 years old. Displays beautiful, natural age toning, and typical horizontal fold lines from original distribution. The text and bold display fonts remain crisp, dark and highly legible.It is professionally housed in an elegant gold accented wood frame with a dark green mat that perfectly compliments the historic paper.
