Antique hand-carved and polychrome wood figure of Saint Vincent Ferrer, measuring ~ 11”.
Constructed from carved wood with remnants of painted/polychrome and gessoed surfaces. The wings are separately constructed and attached with old metal hardware. An old iron wire/armature extends around the upper portion of the figure.
The figure stands over a rounded globe/orb and carved pedestal base.
Historical examples were produced throughout Spain and the Spanish colonial world.
Condition is distressed and as found. There is extensive age-related paint and surface loss, exposed wood, cracking, chips, missing portions/attributes, old nails and metal hardware, and other wear throughout. One original carved wooden section has recently detached from the lower portion and is included but has intentionally not been repaired. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are an important part of the condition description.No restoration has been attempted.I strive to describe each item accurately, including any notable flaws.
