This is a superb Antique WMF EPNS Half Pint Tankard, made c1890 with an early WMF mark inscribed to the base. It is in marvellous condition with no dents or dings, which is unusual for a piece of this age and just a small amount of age-related surface wear to the outside, giving it a gorgeous patina. There’s a letter C monogram inscribed also. You can feel the quality when handling it, this is a lovely item and rare to find. It is a half pint tankard, which is inscribed to the outside and stands approximately 10cm tall.
WMF is the abbreviation for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, which meansWürttemberg Metal Factoryand was created in 1880 in the small town of Geislingen on the river Steige (Geislingen an der Steige), after the succesful merger of two smaller silver plate foundries. Items made by WMF are very collectable today.
