Offered for sale is an interesting antique Knights Templar / Masonic fraternal medal associated with Springfield Commandery No. 6 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The medal features a distinctive whale-shaped upper section marked:
“SPRINGFIELD COMMANDERY No. 6”
The lower shield-style medal references New Bedford and is dated:
AUG. 29 & 30, 1899
The front also features a detailed engraved/embossed scene of Springfield.
This is a particularly unusual piece of Massachusetts Masonic and Knights Templar history, with an attractive period design that should appeal to collectors of antique fraternal medals, Masonic memorabilia, Knights Templar items, and Massachusetts history.
