Set of five antique Underwood & Underwood stereoview cards from a humorous staged photographic series featuring Mr. and Mrs. Newlywed and their new French cook.
This group contains a consecutive run of cards Nos. 1 through 5, telling a comic domestic story in which the husband becomes increasingly flirtatious with the new cook before apparently being discovered by his wife.
Captions include “Mr. and Mrs. Newlywed’s new French Cook,” “Why, you little beauty! How long have you been our cook?”, “You Bashful Little Creature,” and “Oh! you naughty man!”
Several cards have their captions repeated on the reverse in multiple languages. Wonderful turn-of-the-century staged photography with period clothing and kitchen/interior details.
Condition: Good antique condition overall with expected toning, fading, surface wear, edge and corner wear, light staining/soiling and other typical age wear.
