This wonderful Limoges porcelain plate set from France is a hand painted set of various polychrome gaming fish and aquatic scenes.
Each plate has wide encrusted gold borders with decorative Eels.In the center of each plate is a beautiful depiction of swimming fish in a serene aquatic scene.No two are a like exactly.
Each 100+ yr old plate is 8-3/8\" diameter and has a Tressemann & Vogt Limoges France stamp. This mark was used from 1892 to 1907. These plates were sold as blanks for export and used as a medium for artists and hobbyist. Two of these plates are engraved by the artist with a date of 1915 and 1916.The first plate of a possible Trout shown in the photos is signed by the artist, E B Wile on the front of the plate and on the back of the plate, the artist engraved their name, E B Wile.
The second plate is Brook Trout and is signed on the front E B Wile. On the back of the plated in the center, there is hand painted lettering by the artist and I believe it reads Brook Trout. There is also an engraved date of 1916 from the artist.
The third plate is possibly a Silver Perch and is signed by the artist on the front of the plate, E B Wile.
The fourth plate is a Yellow Perch and issigned on the front E B Wile.On the back of the plate, there is hand painted lettering by the artist and it reads Yellow Perch. There is also an engraved date of 1915 and the artists name, E B Wile.
