Collection of 42 vintage railroad and railway uniform/station buttons, mounted on an old collector’s display cardboard.
This varied group includes several recognizable railroad and railway names and designs, including Boston Terminal, Pullman, Union T.R.R.A. Station, London & North Western Railway, Great Western Railway, LMS, Southern Railway and others. Several railroads are represented by different sizes or styles of buttons.
The collection includes brass, gilt, silver-tone and other metal buttons in a variety of sizes, including coat and smaller uniform buttons. Many retain their original shanks and have manufacturer/backmarks on the reverse, which are shown in the photographs and are useful for identification and dating.
Most appear to be early-to-mid 20th century, with some possibly earlier. Condition varies with age and use, including patina, tarnish, wear and oxidation. I dob’t believe any of them have not been cleaned or polished as these were in the hands of a serious railroad and train collector.
All 42 buttons are being sold together as one lot exactly as shown. Please examine the front and back photographs carefully for individual condition, markings and construction.
A great collection for a railroadiana, railway memorabilia, uniform button or transportation history collector. The Pullman, Boston Terminal and British railway buttons give this lot particularly good visual appeal.
