In fact, this sword remains a viable option thanks to its effective blade design. As is fairly typical of Irish swords, this weapon features a wide blade, effectively making it a broad sword. The blade is crafted from quality steel, although it is also left unsharpened. A wide fuller starts at the weapons guard and progresses down the length of the blade, gradually getting more and more narrow, ensuring that the waist of the blade is light while the leading edge of the blade remains properly weighted. The sword has relatively straight edges, although it does angle sharply at the tip to create an effective thrusting point. The steel cross guard features slightly twisted quillons, while the pommel is a classic wheel shape that is been hollowed out and set with a simple rod through the center. The swords grip is wrapped in black leather, which matches nicely to the included wood scabbard, which is also wrapped in leather and set with steel furnishings.Blade Length 30 inches The overall length of the sword is 40 inches.
