These three consecutive numbered checks (numbered 116002, 116003, and 116004) are a rare find.What you are purchasing are an antique set of bank checks issued by The State Bank and Trust Company in Carson City, Nevada, dated February 20, 1905, to be drawn on the Anglo-Californian Bank (Limited) of San Francisco, CA. Each check is in exceptional condition, with no sign of mishandling. The Paper quality is unblemished. There are no folds, tears, missing corners, pin holes, or other signs of abuse. Most often when we associate any type of transaction involving currency coming out of Carson City, our first thought is the acclaimed Silver Morgan Dollar. These checks in their own unique kind of way represent the exchange of money using paper.

Issuer: The State Bank and Trust Company, Carson City, Nev. (succeeding the Bullion and Exchange Bank in 1903).Features: Each includes a period purple bank cancellation stamp, PAID punch-perforations, and the authenticity of the bank’s cashier signature.The holes punch or series of perforations (PAID) indicates the funds left the account. The reverse of each checks contains either a signature of the recipient, or a ‘Pay to the order of’ stamp which would have completed the transaction.Fraud Prevention: Physical cancellation on the reverse of each check stopped anyone from washing or re-depositing the same paper slip.
