In Huichol culture, the jaguar is a sacred, powerful deity and is widely considered the guardian of the underworld, dream realms, and shamans.A striking piece of Mexican folk art crafted by the Wixárika (Huichol) people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Nayarit and Jalisco. Artisans individually press thousands of colorful glass beads into a layer of beeswax on a carved wood or paper-mâché shape.
