20th C Japanese Arita Fukagawa Seiji Hand Painted Porcelain Plaque Tile Signed: $200.00
Description This item is a Japanese Arita porcelain art plaque handcrafted by Fukagawa Seiji. Rooted in the rich ceramic heritage of Saga Prefecture, the piece showcases the company\'s famous bright white porcelain body decorated with fine overglaze enamels in the traditional Kakiemon palette. The hand-painted scene features a gnarled plum tree erupting with red and blue blossoms, extending across the panel from a stylized, deep blue pierced scholar\'s rock. Complementary motifs of green bamboo, maple leaves, and white chrysanthemums border the lower base of the composition. The lower left corner bears a blue hand-painted artist signature flanked by a square red cinnabar-style seal. The reverse side features the company\'s classic underglaze blue trademark consisting of a stylized Mount Fuji outline positioned directly above the vertical three-character maker\'s mark reading \"深川製\" (Made by Fukagawa).Item Specifications - Approximate Era: 20th Century (Circa 1920–1970)

Condition Report The front porcelain surface retains an excellent high-gloss glaze with minimal signs of handling and no visible chips, cracks, or spider hairlines. Enamels remain intact and structurally stable. The unglazed reverse side panel displays minor handling smudges and faint gray surface scuffs acquired from contact with storage surfaces. Borders and edges are straight and crisp. The plaque exhibits a slight technical warp sustained during the original production and kiln firing process, which causes a minor wobble when the item is placed completely flat on a level surface. Item is in very good condition and sold strictly as-is.Disclaimer I am not an appraiser.
