This is a fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a rare swarm of over 20 flies from the Cretaceous Period. These are most likely part of a mating swarm that flew around with the dinosaurs.
The insects were alive at a time when dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops still walked the Earth!
The piece itself weighs0.8 grams with approximate dimensions of 1.9 cmlength by1 cm width and 0.3 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.
Burmese (Burmite)amber has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs.

When one realizes that this amber has been dated to around 100 million years old, it is something to see insects from that time.

Please note that thesaltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwatertest claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.
However, many ambersources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical(plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are moredense than saltwater and so sink. I do not sell fake amber. My response shouldhelp demonstrate this.
