These are the coolest teenaged girls on the planet, in a smashing 1960s fabric in periwinkle, salmon/pink, turquoise, and tan on a white background. Every rectangle has highlights to the outfit in antique gold. They are skiing, dancing, playing guitar, and heading off to the beach (or maybe another party)--featured in rectangles rather like fashion-doll boxes. Smaller rectangles show accessories. The bathing suit looks a lot like the one worn by 1959 Barbie. (Or maybe it's a micro-mini dress with leggings.)
*** Note the vintage width! It measures 35 inches from selvedge to selvedge.Fiber content seems to be 100% cotton. It is of a loose-ish weave, a bit coarser and thicker than typical quilting cotton. It would be great for some types of apparel (a skirt, for example) or for home decor. The weave has some slubs and variations, which are part of the natural fiber and should not be considered flaws.FLAWS
Please study the last photos carefully. There are some yellowish spots, as indicated with fingers. I have tried to photograph, but they are a bit difficult to capture. Some are scattered along a selvedge and would disappear into a seam or hem. They don't creep over to the design except in the two spots pictured: 1. between the party dress on turquoise and the ski costume on pink about 1.5 inches wide by almost 1 inch tall); 2. a fainter mark between the pink dance dress and the smaller rectangle with a rose (about the size of a quarter in diameter). I believe they might come out with soaking in Restoration or another vintage-care product, but I have not attempted it.
I do not know whether this fabric has been washed. Please see the photo with the cut end to assess for yourself.
Each rectangle is 10 inches tall.
Note that the top of the cut shears off a bit of the top of its rectangles. The bottom of this piece will give you a full line of motifs.
Thank you for looking!
