Mosasaurus toothPrognathodon Anceps Shark Teeth Prehistoric Marine Reptile,Genuine
Tooth,Cretaceous Period.
Size : 2,13/5,4inch/cm
●Mosasaur teethare fossilized remains of the teeth from(mosasaurs),which were large, marine reptiles that lived during the Late Cretaceous period (about 98 to 66 million years ago). These teeth are typically conical, sharp, and robust, designed for grasping and crushing prey such as fish, marine invertebrates, and other marine reptiles. Mosasaurs had multiple rows of teeth in their upper jaws, with some species possessing teeth that exhibited serrations, reflecting a carnivorous diet.Prognathodon ancepsis a species of mosasaur, a group of large, marine reptiles that lived during the LateCretaceousperiod. Teeth from this species, particularly those found in Morocco, are quite distinctive. They tend to be conical in shape, robust, and relatively large. The teeth have a slightly recurved form, which suggests an adaptation for grasping and crushing prey. The surface of the teeth is usually smooth, but can sometimes have fine ridges (carinae) running lengthwise, aiding in gripping prey. These features suggest that Prognathodon anceps was a formidable predator, likely feeding on hard-shelled marine organisms, such as ammonites, as well as fish and other marine reptiles. Fossils of these teeth are commonly found in the phosphate deposits of the OuladAbdoun Basin in Morocco, which is known for its rich Cretaceous marine fossil deposits.
