1971 Italian American Civil Rights League Plaque & Photos - Mafia Joseph Colombo For Sale

An extraordinary piece of Italian-American Civil Rights League history: the official charter issued to IACRL Chapter Eleven on May 19, 1971.

This original charter was displayed in the Chapter 11 office for many years. It is permanently affixed to a heavy wooden plaque and protected by a plexiglass cover. The charter features the League’s gold corporate seal with red, white, and black ribbons, along with facsimile signatures of IACRL officers Anthony Colombo, Nat Marcone, and Caesar Vitale.

Also included are three original 5 x 7-inch color photographs taken during the opening ceremonies of Chapter 11. The photographs show members and guests gathered beneath Italian-American Civil Rights League and Chapter 11 displays, giving the charter exceptional historical context and provenance.

This is a rare institutional artifact and, to our knowledge, the only official IACRL chapter charter ever to surface on the collectors’ market. While membership cards, buttons, decals, and other League memorabilia occasionally become available, an original charter that actually hung in a chapter office is virtually unheard of.
