Vintage 1970 Mountain Dew Bottle Engineering Blueprint – Original Factory Collection

Offered for sale is a fascinating piece of Mountain Dew and Pepsi-Cola manufacturing history: a vintage factory-used copy of an engineering drawing documenting the design and production specifications for a 10-ounce Mountain Dew glass soda bottle.

This is an authentic vintage factory document from the 1970s. It is a period copy of the original engineering drawing, not the original master drawing and not a modern decorative reproduction.

This historical document comes from a collection of factory engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and internal memoranda preserved by a former employee of a glass manufacturing facility.

DOCUMENT DETAILS

* Company: Pepsi-Cola Company

* Brand: Mountain Dew

* Engineering/Manufacturer: Owens-Illinois, General Offices, Toledo, Ohio

* Customer Location: New York, New York

* Original Drawing Date: June 5, 1970

* Drawing Number: BA-5351-1

* Reference Number: GK-38792

* Description: 10 oz. Round Mountain Dew Glass Bottle

* Bottle Design: No Deposit – No Return

* Document Type: Vintage 1970s factory-used engineering drawing copy

The drawing features the vintage Mountain Dew logo, the classic hillbilly mascot illustration, and the memorable advertising slogan “It’ll Tickle Yore Innards!”

The document also includes original drafting information, handwritten engineering notes, revision markings, and detailed glass bottle manufacturing specifications.

The design includes illustrations of the bottle’s front and back lettering, vintage Mountain Dew branding, bottle dimensions, glass specifications, base markings, and manufacturing tolerances.

HISTORY & PROVENANCE

This document is part of a larger collection of approximately 60 or more vintage engineering drawings and period factory copies, accompanied by factory correspondence and other historical manufacturing paperwork.

The collection was preserved by my father, who worked at a glass manufacturing facility. According to our family history, these documents were being discarded when the factory closed, and he was given permission to keep them.

Rather than being lost during the factory closure, these historical documents were saved and have remained in our family’s possession.

This particular document is a vintage factory-used copy of an engineering drawing originally dated June 5, 1970.

CONDITION

Vintage condition, with age and storage wear consistent with historical factory documents. Visible fold lines, discoloration, creasing, edge wear, and a small area of paper loss along the lower edge are present.

Please examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition, markings, and details.

This listing is for the actual vintage factory-used engineering print pictured, not a newly printed decorative reproduction.

COLLECTOR INTEREST

An unusual piece of American industrial history that may appeal to Mountain Dew and Pepsi-Cola memorabilia collectors, vintage advertising enthusiasts, glass bottle collectors, and individuals interested in historical manufacturing and engineering.

The vintage Mountain Dew hillbilly mascot, original advertising slogan, and period bottle design make this document an especially interesting example of early Mountain Dew packaging history.

Additional engineering drawings and related factory documents from this collection may be offered separately.

The item pictured is the exact document you will receive.

Carefully packaged for shipment to help protect this historical document.
