Mid-Century, circa 1969
Don Polland, Western Americana Artist
Sculpted in 1969 by Don Polland, renowned as the “Sculptor of Miniatures,” this sterling silver sculpture, titled “Drawn Sabers,” depicts four charging U.S. Cavalry horsemen of the American West.
Weighing an impressive 2,540 grams (75.5 troy ounces) of sterling silver, the work was issued in several editions: a larger pewter release, a smaller copper edition, and an exceptionally limited sterling silver edition — the rarest and most prestigious medium in which the sculpture was produced.
The sculpture retains its original cast title plaque, is signed © D. Polland ’69 within the casting itself, and bears an additional foundry / workshop hallmark, and is further marked \"2543\" on the underside, consistent with an original production or casting number
