Original Vintage 1969 Chateau Charest Schuler\'s Restaurant Menu Schuss Mountain Traverse City Michigan
Chateau Charest was the first restaurant built by Grand Traverse-area entrepreneur Eugene Charest, at the Schuss Mountain ski resort near Bellaire and Traverse City, Michigan. Schuss Mountain, developed by ex-Chicago stockbroker Daniel Iannotti, opened for skiing on December 23, 1967, placing Chateau Charest in the resort\'s late-1960s early years. Charest, who had earlier worked at Win Schuler\'s restaurant, went on over more than thirty years to become a fixture of Grand Traverse dining, part-owner of The Leland Lodge and builder of a Traverse City Beef Tree known for upscale dining and live entertainment. No closure date is documented, but the restaurant is long gone from Schuss Mountain, whose restaurants today are Ivan\'s, LaVigna and Weiskopf\'s Grill.
