Complete 1964 calendar-year collection of Motor Trend magazine, featuring all 12 original monthly issues from January through December 1964. This outstanding vintage automotive magazine lot captures one of the most exciting periods in American automobile history, including the introduction of the legendary Ford Mustang, the arrival of the Plymouth Barracuda, and the dramatic styling changes leading into the 1965 model year. Each issue features its original full-color illustrated or photographic cover, with period road tests, automotive engineering articles, racing coverage, industry news, and classic 1960s automobile advertising. Together, these magazines provide a fascinating month-by-month look at the American automotive industry during the height of the muscle car era.
Highlights include the January issue featuring the 1964 Plymouth Fury and Chevrolet Chevelle road tests; February's special Car of the Year awards honoring the 1964 Fords; March's station wagon coverage featuring the Buick Skylark and Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser; April's Lincoln Continental Convertible feature; and May's Plymouth Barracuda cover with coverage of Ford's all-new Mustang. The second half of the year is equally compelling, with July's special station wagon issue, August's first look at 1965 cars, September's first photographs of new 1965 models, October's comprehensive 1965 styling and engineering reports, November's 1965 Auto Show issue, and December's special engine issue examining new powerplants for the 1965 model year. Collectors will also appreciate the period coverage of Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, Dodge, Mercury, Oldsmobile, Chrysler, Studebaker, racing events, and automotive technology.
All 12 monthly issues are included, making this a complete 1964 calendar-year set rather than an assortment of individual magazines. The collection is in good vintage condition, with normal age-related handling wear, light cover and edge wear, and occasional minor creasing consistent with magazines more than 60 years old. The covers retain attractive original colors and graphics, and no significant flaws were noted. These original publications are excellent additions to a classic car enthusiast's library, automotive research collection, vintage advertising archive, or display devoted to 1960s American automobiles.
