Original Vintage 1950s The Anchor Room Restaurant Cocktail Menu Hotel Annapolis Washington DC
The Anchor Room was the nautical cocktail lounge of the Hotel Annapolis, Harry Wardman\'s 400-room, fully air-conditioned house of 1925 on H Street — \'superb entertainment and beverages, in a realistic atmosphere of the sea,\' with a sister Surf Room done up like a luxury liner. The hotel doubled as the capital\'s intercity bus gateway, Greyhound\'s streamline Super Terminal opening beside it in 1940. The Annapolis is long gone: by 1991 its block had been rebuilt as an office complex, keeping only the Art Deco bus terminal as its lobby.
