1950s Resin Art Clock 7 Silver Coins Dollars Morgan & Peace – Mother of Pearl For Sale

Very unusual Mid-Century resin/acrylic art clock / piece incorporating large natural mother-of-pearl shell pieces and smaller mother-of-pearl fragments, seven U.S. silver dollars, and a period Lanshire electric timepiece movement.The seven coins appear to be genuine U.S. 90% silver dollars and consist of:2 × 1887 Morgan Dollars
2 × 1921 Morgan Dollars
3 × 1922 Peace DollarsThe coins cannot be casually removed, and have not been independently authenticated, but they appear correct visually and have apparently been encased in this approximately 70-year-old piece since it was made.And this is where things get interesting.All seven obverses are visible through the clear material and show very nice detail. The coins cannot be properly graded while encased, and every reverse is completely concealed within the opaque black portion of the piece. This means the mintmarks on all seven coins remain unknown.I have made no attempt to remove the coins because doing so would require sacrificing at least part of this clock / art piece. It may be possible to recover them mechanically or chemically, but I have made no attempt to determine how and cannot guarantee what effect removal might have on the coins. No representation is being made regarding mintmark, grade, variety, condition, concealed-side condition, or eventual removability.The piece appears to have been crafted in layers, combining clear and opaque black resin/acrylic with mother-of-pearl and other decorative inclusions. The exact material and construction method have not been determined. The Lanshire electric movement is consistent with the type of movement sold during this period for custom and kit-built projects.The electrical cord has been cut and the movement is untested/non-working. I have not opened or removed the rear movement assembly. One side of the piece has a crack/chip with a portion of the resin/acrylic missing. The back has a visible seam or bonded area that could be part of the original construction or an old repair; I cannot determine which. The upper portion also has an irregular circular area that may relate to the original casting/construction. There are scratches, chips, and other age-related wear. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description.Even without the mystery, this is a wonderfully unusual Mid-Century piece: black and clear resin/acrylic, iridescent mother-of-pearl, seven silver dollars, and a period electric movement incorporated into one object.
