1950's Kinetic Butterflies Space Fantasy Atomic Barkcloth Vintage Fabric Drape For Sale

A woman showed up to my tent at Mount Dora's Extravaganza 10 years ago and found this fabric in my stash...she grabbed it and started to cry...she held it close and thought of her sweet mama who had this fabric in her 50's mid century living room...she could barely get the words out...I asked to three times what she said as I hugged her...she was so overcome with sadness from the nostalgia of finding something so closely related to her mother...we had a moment...I was crying...she was crying...we were a big ole mess...then out of no where she screamed "JIFFY POP"...and I was like SHOOOWHAT? She said "JIFFY POP"...the words she was trying to get out through her tears was "JIFFY POP"...she explained that was what everyone called her mothers draperies...the silver metallic a ode to Jiffy Pop invented in the 50's...she would have slumber parties with her girlfriends and they would laugh at her mothers modern metallic silver draperies...to this day I see "JIFFY POP" in this pattern and colorway...you can't unsee it once you have been shown it :)
This offering is for ONE fabulous ready to hang drapery panel...I have 4 available being sold individually...they appear mostly unused premium mid century barkcloth...thick and nubby highly textured barkcloth...with a whole history of mid century that comes along with it...if you are a mid century kindred spirit...then you will be romanced and smitten with the goodness of this amazing treasure...hails from the 1950's...is highly textured and in mint condition. A creamy latte chino beige ground with flamingo pink and minty aqua as the mainstay colors...of course the presence of the metallic silver brings JIFFY POP to a whole new decorative level that literally had families watching the boob tube with these draperies hanging in the den...ummm...eating jiffy pop...popcorn :) The intersection of modernism!!! These draperies show little sign of use...they are still stiff and I have never been washed...the former owner said dry cleaned...but I'm not sure of that either. They look brand new really...as if you ran to the Five and Dime on Main Street some 65 years ago to grab some yardage from the notions department for draperies and matching pillows...yes my dear friends we love to time travel here at Florida Bungalow...where all one has to do is simply sit back in your McCobb chair and close your eyes...click your heels three times and VOILA...you can transport yourself anywhere you choose! Each panel measures 27 inches at pleats...44 inches wide at bottom width and 82 inches long with a 3 inch hem. Buy as many as you need to intoxicate your life. Flawless.
