Original double-sided 1948 military travel album page containing seven removable snapshots documenting departure from Fort Mason, San Francisco, aboard the U.S. Army Transport General William Weigel.
Handwritten captions date the voyage from April 9 to May 3, 1948, identify the ship and Fort Mason pier, and record the passengers’ journey toward Okinawa. Images include a close view of the transport, the San Francisco waterfront, Golden Gate Bridge, passengers on deck and shipboard group portraits.
Page measures approximately 9 × 12 inches. Photos are secured with period corner mounts and are not glued down. Condition includes album-page edge wear and tears, general photographic wear and heavy pink/red staining to the Golden Gate image. See photos. Thanks!
