For your consideration, we are offering for sale this restored 1946 Parker Vacumatic Major Fountain Pen in the Silver Pearl Celluloid with clean Nickel trim. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, a new diaphragm added, put back together, and is now in fantastic writing condition.
It is extremely difficult to find Parker Vacumatics in Silver Pearl that aren't heavily used - this one shows considerably less wear than most and it displays clean trim, transparent water clear barrel, and great writing nib.
The nib, feed, section, and breather tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I have hand-polished the Nickel Split Arrow Clip, Chevron nickel-plated cap banding and 14K 2-Tone Parker NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Major Silver that measures 5 1/8" capped and 5 7/8" posted.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Silver Pearl color is simply beautiful with vibrant Silver Pearl color. The cap has a perfect condition Blue Diamond nickel-plated clip that does not display any wear. The Chevron (\\\///) Nickel plated cap banding displays no brassing there is just a hint of wear to the overall banding. The top jewel is black and polished to a high shine. If there is one flaw it is in the imprint. The Made in the USA and date code area of the imprint is very light. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 6 (for 1946) in the 3rd Quarter" - I point out the MADE IN USA and the 6 date code is very light and needs the right lighting to see it. The barrel transparency is water-clear, a person can easily see through the barrel. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.
This Parker Vacumatic retains the correct plastic filling unit that was produced for 3rd-generation Vacumatics and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 8-12 presses to fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.
This Parker Vacumatic 2-Tone NIB is 14K Gold with platinum plating that has all the platinum coating intact - extremely hard to find nibs of this sort in this condition. The Nib has a fine point that measures .50mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .45mm to .80mm when measuring with digital calipers. The nib on the fountain pen writes very smoothly. The writing sample was done with the actual pen listed in the images. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Bluek Ink.
This Parker Vacumatic Silver Pearl Major Fountain Pen is as good as it can get - the celluloid is vibrant. It looks incredible, the barrel has excellent transparency, and has a perfect two-tone nib and clean trim. I would consider this Magor Vacumatic to grade in Excellent Condition and will certainly be a treasured addition to your writing arsenal collection.
