Up for sale is an original Action Comics #69, published by DC Comics in February 1944, featuring Superman taking on the Prankster.
This is a great-looking Golden Age Superman comic with strong, colorful cover artwork and plenty of character for a book that’s over 80 years old.
Condition:
The comic is complete, with the front and back covers firmly attached and the centerfold securely attached as well. There is no writing on the book.
The most significant condition issue is an old burn hole on the front cover, located around the Prankster’s jacket. It appears someone may have accidentally dropped a cigarette on the comic many years ago. The burn penetrated the front cover and left a corresponding dark scorch mark on the first interior page.
I’ve included close-up photographs of this damage so you can see exactly what I’m describing.
Aside from the burn damage, the comic displays nicely, with attractive cover colors for its age. There is typical Golden Age wear, including some tanning, discoloration, corner and edge wear, and minor creasing.
Based on its overall condition, I would personally place this copy somewhere around Good/Very Good (3.0), but this is only my opinion. The comic has not been professionally graded, so please examine all the photographs and judge the condition for yourself.
Despite the damage, this is still an appealing example of an early Superman comic featuring one of his classic recurring villains, the Prankster.
The photographs show the actual comic you will receive, including detailed views of the burn damage.
