The combination of the Galbraith & Co. Seattle waterfront corner card, Pier 12 address and named freight-agent addressee makes this an interesting piece of Seattle commercial and transportation history.
Historical Date Context: The cover was postmarked August 26, 1940, the same day President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 8526, concerning coordination of the electrical facilities and power resources associated with the Grand Coulee and Bonneville projects, two major Pacific Northwest public-power developments.
This same-day event is included as historical context only; no direct connection between Galbraith & Co. and the federal power projects is represented.
