Vintage A.C. Gilbert Mysto Magic Exhibition Set No. 1½, dating to the late 1930s and accompanied by its original 1938 copyrighted instruction booklet.Wonderful early American magic set manufactured by The A.C. Gilbert Company, New Haven, Connecticut, best known for its classic educational toys and Mysto Magic sets.This example retains its striking original Mysto Magic Exhibition Set illustrated box, factory-marked No. 1½, along with the colorful fitted Gilbert Mysto Magic display insert and the original magic apparatus shown in the photographs.The set includes a fascinating assortment of classic Gilbert magic effects, including the Phantom Card Trick, Vanishing Handkerchief, Hiding Chessman, Multiplying Coin, coin effects, Great Paper Ribbon Enigma, Dollar Bill Vanisher and other Mysto apparatus. The colorful yellow Mysto containers retain their wonderful magician-and-globe graphics, and the set includes the distinctive metal Mysto magic coin/token featuring the same imagery.Also included is the original illustrated Gilbert Mysto Magic Book of Instructions, copyright 1938 by The A.C. Gilbert Company, New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A.Condition: Very good overall considering its approximately 85+ years of age. The interior display remains colorful and highly presentable, and the original apparatus shows normal age-related wear. The instruction booklet is in very nice vintage condition.The outer cardboard box shows expected age and storage wear, including edge and corner wear, creasing and some splitting/separation along portions of the lid and box edges. Please examine all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description. No attempt has been made to tape, repaint or cosmetically restore the box.A beautiful surviving example of an early A.C. Gilbert Mysto Magic Exhibition Set No. 1½, especially appealing as a display piece for collectors of antique magic, vintage toys, A.C.
