Up for sale is an authentic, original 1937 King Edward VIII Commemorative Coronation Medallion. This historic token was issued as an advertising premium by the makers of Rowntree’s Cocoa, Jellies & Gums. Because King Edward VIII abdicated the throne in December 1936 to marry Wallis Simpson, his scheduled coronation for May 12, 1937, never took place. This medallion stands as a fascinating "what-if" artifact of British royal history, minted just before his sudden departure.
