Original 1935 Story and Paint Book: Some of America’s Famous Men, presented by Mr. Peanut and the Planters Nut & Chocolate Co.
This colorful Depression-era advertising premium was issued by Planters as a children’s story and paint/coloring book, combining American history, illustrated biography, and branded Mr. Peanut advertising. The front cover features Mr. Peanut beside sailing ships, while the rear cover advertises how children could obtain the book by saving empty Planters peanut bags and Jumbo Block wrappers.
Interior pages include bright period illustrations, coloring instructions, a color chart for watercolors or crayons, and illustrated historical content on famous American figures. The book also features multiple Planters/Mr. Peanut advertising elements throughout, including references to Planters salted peanuts, peanut bars, peanut butter, chocolate covered peanuts, chocolate nut bars, peanut oil, and other peanut products.
