This is an original vintage 1934 seven-photograph archive lot capturing a comprehensive historical record of the aftermath of the legendary Great Blizzard of 1934 in Newtown, Connecticut. This historic New England storm, which raged from February 19th through February 21st, buried the region under nearly three feet of snow with drifts topping eight feet, completely paralyzing local automobile infrastructure. Each snapshot features a distinct, handwritten ink caption on the lower margin detailing dates, local landmarks, and family names between February 21 and February 28, 1934.The archive details multiple spectacular street scenes along Newtown's historic Main Street. Notable views include the commercial town corridor with 1930s model coupe and sedan vehicles half-buried in massive hand-shoveled trenches, set against the backdrop of the historic white steeple of the Newtown Meeting House. There is even one with the word "Oakland" stamped on it as it was an Oakland car.Individual photos showcase commercial storefronts labeled In front of Barnett Block and a rare look at rural utility teams labeled Milk Teams at Center, documenting local dairy farmers utilizing heavy teams of draft horses and wooden transport sleds to haul metal milk cans through the drifts. Personal family snapshots within the lot include a young local child labeled Teddy Brockett standing before a massive wall of snow, alongside architectural winter landscape views of prominent area properties including H. R. Kennedy's, B. Fields, McAlister, and Ahrens.4.25"X2.50"good condition and details~printed on nice sturdy photo paperI often show a high contrast close up however actual images is closer to second scan
