Historic lot featuring two original canceled checks issued by legendary American numismatist B. Max Mehl of Fort Worth, Texas. Dated 1929 and January 11, 1930, both checks bear Mehl’s signature and exhibit the cancellation perforations used by the bank. Included is a copy of a 1979 Coin World article discussing Mehl and his impact on the coin collecting hobby.
B. Max Mehl (1884-1957) is considered one of the most influential coin dealers in American history and helped popularize coin collecting nationwide through his famous advertisements and mail-order business.
