The landscape-format postcard shows five elaborately dressed female court dancers wearing layered ceremonial robes in vivid red, pale blue-green, brown, white and gold. The image has a highly decorative formal composition, with patterned costume, gold detailing and ornamental architectural elements surrounding the figures.
Printed at the top is 大礼記念, commemorating the imperial enthronement, while the lower margin carries the title 五節舞之図, “Picture of the Gosechi no Mai”. The design was issued in 1928 as part of the official Shōwa enthronement commemorative postcard series.
The illustrated image is a colour woodblock print applied to the postcard, rather than a photographic or modern reproduction. A period green 1½ sen phoenix commemorative postage stamp is attached to the illustrated face and bears a circular cancellation.
The reverse is headed CARTE POSTALE and has a divided postcard layout. It remains unaddressed and does not show evidence of normal postal correspondence. Later pencil notation is present on the reverse.
The postcard measures approximately 9 × 14 cm, based on documented examples of this issue; this individual card has not been ruler-measured.
Condition is fair to good for age, with toning, light rubbing, scattered marks, minor edge and corner wear, some colour wear, reverse spotting and later pencil notation. The main image nevertheless retains strong colour and decorative impact.
