A sharp and well-composed 1923 classroom group photograph from Columbine School in Denver, Colorado, showing a full class of students posed in a richly decorated interior setting. The mounted photograph measures approximately 6 x 8 inches on a larger 9.5 x 11 inch matte board, giving it a strong display presence typical of early 20th-century school portraits.
The chalkboard behind the students clearly reads “CLASS ’23,” while a caption strip at the bottom identifies it as a January class from Columbine School, Denver, Colo. The image captures both boys and girls in period dress—ties, sailor-style collars, and neatly styled hair—offering excellent visual reference for 1920s youth fashion and school culture.
Notably, the classroom features classical decor, including a prominent statue and a relief sculpture mounted above the chalkboard, adding an unusual artistic and academic atmosphere not often seen in typical school photos of the era. The photographer credit appears to read Alex Martin Photo (partially visible), which may offer additional research potential.
Condition is good overall with strong contrast and clarity. The matte shows expected age wear, including corner softening and a visible archival tape reinforcement on the reverse corner. The photograph itself remains clean and well-preserved.
A desirable piece for collectors of Colorado history, early 20th-century education, or genealogists seeking identifiable school groups from the Denver area.
