Step back to September 3, 1923, and the golden age of early motoring with this wonderful original black and white snapshot photograph — a car-centric vernacular image featuring a handsome early-1920s American closed sedan posed with its party among the tall pines of Lake Arrowhead, California.
THE AUTOMOBILE takes center stage: this early-1920s American closed sedan displays all the desirable details collectors love — a tall vertical-slat radiator grille, large round headlamps, wooden-spoke artillery wheels, flat straight fenders, and distinctive dual side-mounted spare tires. A fantastic subject for automobilia and antique car enthusiasts.
THE GROUP: Six people in classic 1920s attire — cloche hats, cardigans, and knickers/plus-fours — pose with and around the automobile. According to the handwritten inscription on the reverse, the party includes Kay Wilson, Leo + Delo Gabrielson, Everett Grosby, Beulha Robbins + Ray Harrios.
SETTING: The group is posed with the car beneath towering pine trees, with a large lodge building visible behind — classic Southern California mountain resort scenery of Lake Arrowhead in the Roaring Twenties. The location is confirmed by the back inscription reading 'Arrow Head Lake.'
