Original 1922 internal telephone directory issued by the City of Chicago, Department of Public Works, Bureau of Engineering, for the Water Pipe Extension Division. The cover is printed “Corrected to April 1, 1922.” This pocket-format booklet was used by staff working on Chicago’s water infrastructure system during the early 20th century.
The directory includes staff listings with names, titles, office extensions, and home addresses and telephone numbers for personnel in the Superintendent’s Office, Engineering Office, Payroll, Mapping, Plumbing Inspection, Water Pipe Inspection, the Chief Tapper’s Office, and district engineering sections. This type of directory was produced for internal municipal use rather than public distribution.
Condition:
Heavy wear to covers with edge wear and handling marks. Most pages creased with age toning and use.
