1914 Bulgarian Legal Document Lozengrad Kirklisse Lawyer Notary Ephemera Ottoman Empire Era
Bulgarian legal testimonial (\"Udostoverenie\") issued in Lozengrad (today Kırklareli, Turkey) on 5 January 1914, documenting the professional standing of attorney Stefan Atanasov Robev shortly after the Balkan Wars. The certificate confirms that Robev, a Bulgarian native of Lozengrad, graduated from the Faculty of Law in Thessaloniki on 15 August 1912 and practiced law until the end of the Second Balkan War, faithfully defending the rights of his clients with honesty and integrity.

\"Lozengrad Archepiscopal Vicariate\" (\"Лозенградско Архиерейско наместничество\"), signed by the Vicar, Priest Ivan Kostov (\"Архиер. Наместникъ: под Свещ. Ив. Костовъ\"), and bears the circular hand drawn seal \"Българска църковна община... Кърк-Клисия\" (Bulgarian Church Community, Kırk Kilise). Below this, a second, separate notarization dated 1 July 1914 at Dede-Agach (Dedeağaç, present-day Alexandroupoli, Greece) is executed by a local Justice of the Peace (\"Мирови съдия\"), whose handwritten cursive certification states that the present copy was faithfully taken from the original document presented by Stefan A. Robev of the town of Dede-Agach, entered into the register of certified copies with no discrepancies noted. It further records that the original bore a 50-stotinki revenue stamp, that a fee of 1 lev 40 stotinki was collected (receipt No. 592), and closes with the judge\'s signature beneath a circular seal reading \"Деде-Ага[чъ]... Мирови съдия\" (Dede-Agach... Justice of the Peace).

Bulgarian typewritten page (\"УДОСТОВЕРЕНИЕ\" / Certificate/Attestation), executed in Lozengrad (the Bulgarian-administered name for Kirklissé/Kırk Kilise, present-day Kırklareli) and dated 5 January 1914. The document is a sworn statement by residents of Lozengrad attesting that Stefan At. Robev, a Bulgarian native of Lozengrad, completed his law degree at the Faculty in Salonika and practiced law before the local city courts from 15 August 1912 until the last Balkan War, 2 July 1913 — precisely the period during which Lozengrad/Kirklissé was under Bulgarian civil administration following its capture in the First Balkan War, prior to its recovery by Ottoman/Turkish forces after the Second Balkan War. The certificate states he defended his clients\' rights \"most honestly and conscientiously.\" It is signed by a large number of local residents, listed by name at the bottom of the page, headed by the parish priest, Stoyan Pavlovv (Енорийски свещ. Стоянъ Павловъ), followed by fourteen additional named signatories. The document bears an affixed 50-stotinki Bulgarian revenue stamp (\"Гербова марка\") featuring the Bulgarian royal lion crest, cancelled with a purple circular seal of a \"Мирови съдия\" (Justice of the Peace), along with a second circular seal reading \"Българска църковна община... Кърк-Клисия\" (Bulgarian Church Community... Kirk-Klissia).

\"CERTIFICATE. The undersigned residents of Lozengrad hereby certify that Stefan At. Robev, a Bulgarian native of Lozengrad, having completed his law studies at the Faculty of Salonika, practiced the profession of advocate before our city courts from 15 August 1912 until the last Balkan War — 2 July 1913 — and defended the rights of his clients most honestly and conscientiously. Lozengrad, 5 January 1914. (Signed:) Parish priest Stoyan Pavlov, Ya. R. Kurudereliev, Stoyan D. Sarikov, Georgi Petrov, D. K. Stanchev, Kostandi Petrov, Dimo Mihalchev, N. Ralev, A. Neshev, Yani Valchev, Ilia Georgiev, Ilia Todorov, St. Burilkov, Gyorgi Nikolov, A. Tarnovski, P. Valkov.\" Bottom line (continues on reverse): \"The Lozengrad Bishop\'s Vicariate certifies the truthfulness of the content of the above certificate and of the attached signatures. 8 January 1914, Lozengrad. Archepiscopal Vicar: (signed) Priest Iv. Kostov. [Seal: Bulgarian Church Community (seal) Kırk-Klissia].\" Lower certification (cursive): \"The undersigned, Judge of the Peace [name unclear, possibly \'Yosif Agashki\'], certify that this copy was faithfully taken from the original document presented to me by Stefan A. Robev of the town of Dede-Agach; entered into the book of certified copies, with no other particulars noted. The original was stamped with a 50-stotinki revenue stamp. Fee collected: 1 lev 40 stotinki, receipt No. 592. Dede-Agach, 1 July 1914. Judge of the Peace: (signature) [illegible].\" Additional marginal notation near top: partially reversed/mirrored text, likely bleed-through from the opposite side of the folded sheet...\"

Dedeagach — a compelling primary source for researchers of Balkan Wars-era population movement, Ottoman-Bulgarian territorial transition, and Orthodox ecclesiastical administration in Thrace during 1912–1914. This is a significant piece of Balkan Wars-era legal and community documentation, directly tied to the brief period of Bulgarian civil governance in Ottoman Thrace between the First and Second Balkan Wars.
