Framed drawing of theAttawaugan Mill in Killingly, Connecticut, by Clarence H. Truesdell, circa1910s. The drawing, in done pencil and red pencil with black ink outlining, isset in a small period frame and has a typed label on the reverse that readsAttawaugan Mill, Given to Bartlett Caffrey, By C.H. Truesdell. It shows a largefactory building. This is the Attawaugan Mill, still standing on Route 12 inKillingly. This drawing shows it from the front. The two story building to theright is the Mill Store and Office, which is now gone. The drawing, glued atthe top edge to the back of an old print (probably original to the frame), haswriting in pencil on the back that reads Please return to Ballou Attawaug,signed below in ink C.H. Truesdell, Supt. Clarence H. Truesdell (1862-1921) wassuperintendent of this cotton mill in the 1900s and 1910s. Bartlett J. Caffrey(1882-after 1950) was working as a weaver in the mill in 1910. The drawing isin good or better condition with only light wear and soiling. There are somespots of foxing and a diagonal crease running vertically down the left side ofthe paper. The drawing is fairly well done and presents well in the smallframe. A nice factory drawing and a fun bit of Killingly CT history!
