This official delegate badge was manufactured by the premier turn-of-the-century medalists, The Whitehead & Hoag Co., for the 27th Annual Convention of the American Street and Interurban Railway Association held in Atlantic City in the autumn of 1908.This beautiful, multi-piece badge features:Top Medallion: A gorgeous gold-tone, scalloped banner struck with high-relief details showing an early interurban electric trolley car driving out from under sun rays, marked "Atlantic City".Lower Pinned Emblem: A highly detailed piece featuring a bald eagle clutching flags, framed by a brilliant, multi-color cloisonné enamel border reading "American Street & Interurban Railway Ass'n".Ribbon: The original red silk ribbon remains fully intact, stamped in gold leaf with the organization's initials ("A.S.& I.R.A.").Delegate Insert: Features the original brass-rimmed celluloid delegate number insert (1181), a technology patented and famously pioneered by Whitehead & Hoag.Bonus History: Includes a vintage paper collector's annotation note detailing the 1908 convention properties.Condition Report:Excellent antique condition considering it is over 115 years old.
