Evelyn Nesbit (1884–1967) was one of the most famous American models and actresses of the early 20th century and became an iconic figure of the Gilded Age. She was extensively photographed by leading New York photographers, including the Otto Sarony Co.
The image is identified in the original publication as:
“MADE ON ART CYKO.”
“STUDY BY THE OTTO SARONY CO.”
This is an especially interesting example because it is printed on substantial, heavy Art Cyko photographic stock rather than ordinary thin book paper. The print has a firm, rigid feel similar to heavy photographic card stock.
