1904 45mm BALLOON BASKET 2 PASSENGERS DIRIGIBLE 2nd BALLOON S-870-B + C-40 For Sale

From my aviation collection I offer this quite scarce circa 1904 bronze 45mm medal by Frainier. Obverse has a large balloon basket with 2 capped men, one dumping ballast: over the ocean a dirigible and another balloon. All enclosed with a circle of balloon handling ropes looped together. Reverse a circle for engraving: a plaque at bottom. surrounded by laurel and oak leaves. In my book (lighter than air by Evelyn Malpas) the plaque is dated 1904 with names of men who were awarded the medal. My medal was not awarded so the plaque is blank. A seldom seen lovely medal. Struck with a matt finish. See the scans. U.S. shipping is $5. It will cost me more. PayPal preferred.

I just found a 2 1/2-inch silvered belt buckle with the same balloon I had put away a long time ago and will include it as it has the same medal depicted. (last 2 pictures) Will make a great addition and no additional charge so the good deal just got better. See the scans that I just added to the listing. It does not have to be used as a buckle as it can just be another medal C-40

I am always open to offers on any of my listings. Just ask. Worst thing is I say no.

I COMBINE SHIPPING USUALY ADDING NOTHING AND WHEN I DO ONLY ENOUGH TO COVER ADDITIONAL INSURANCE OR POSTAGE. IF YOU PAY TOO MUCH SHIPPING I WILLREFUND THE EXCESS.
